The main reason for going to Haarlem was to see the flower garden then for Bergen it’s the fjords! After dropping off my gear at my new home away from home, I put my walking shoes on and was back out the door. I needed a short stroll to stretch my legs and to get a little taste of this place. I feel like I walked into a fairy tale! Bergen is known as the rainiest place in Europe and it lives up to that name. I was happy to have a bit of blue in the sky for my welcome.
These are a few of the sights I saw!
It was windy and cool, after all it is still April. There is snow on the tops of the highest mountains, and they are not very high here. On a day like today here, you live outside. So, wrapped in one of their wool blankets, I sat on the restaurant’s outside patio to enjoy my first Norwegian beer. I went for a big hot pasta dish to feed the hunger.
How am I expected to sleep tonight with a view like this from my room?
It’s early yet, but I’m saying goodnight already!
How lovely! I look forward to reading more of your trip, and seeing the sights through your eyes.
ReplyDeleteI hope my photos and words do this area justice!
DeleteNow I want to go there. Oh, and in case nobody told you, Calgary got about 15 cm of snow earlier this week, but it's just about all melted.
ReplyDeleteI did see photos of the snow Calgary got! The type of trip I had to Bergen was exactly my style. I would love to see more of Norway and maybe one day I will.
DeleteOh wow, what an amazing view to wake up to each day!!! ❤️Norma
ReplyDeleteThe view of the harbour was different every morning and every evening!
DeleteI always like the colorful buildings. I expect they'll be seen in some water colors some day.
ReplyDeleteYou will see some kind of painting or two from this trip!
DeleteThe views are beautiful, I love all the colorful buildings. Have a great day and a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat line of buildings was so cheerful to look at it, and that area is full of history!
DeleteWonderful Bergen. I worked on a farm on an island, an hour ferry ride south of of here, in 1977.
