Before I get on with my "out & about" blog post, I want to send along greetings for the season! If you celebrate Easter then best wishes for a Happy Easter! The thought for this watercolour painting came to me out of the blue when my mind wandered off, which is happening lots lately, and I am thankful for that and enjoying it. In my last post, I shared a photo of a Robin and I said I liked Mother Nature's frame around it. Well, when I was googling Easter Baskets, I paired the results of that googling with my Robin photo. This is the outcome! Happy Easter!

This deer was crossing the trail to the bushes on the other side to.....
.....join those already settled in the snow!

After enjoying a wander along the snow covered trails through the trees, it was time to.....
a close up of a trio of Bohemian Waxwings! Soon the Cedar Waxwings will arrive.
a Pelican with a "horn on its beak"
This bump grows on both males and females and shows they are ready to mate.
Once breeding occurs, the bump falls off.

This is one of five Ruby-crowned Kinglets!
This is my first Mountain Bluebird sighting this season!
Yes, spring is in the air!
I lost count of how many Robins were in the Park today!
I like seeing them with snow!
Two Trumpeter Swans stayed curled up!
This is what I saw when I checked in on the Carburn Bald Eagles. I only saw the one today. You can see the head above the snow. There were ten of us doing a check-in. We talked about the weather more than we talked about the Eagles.
As time passed, it warmed up quite a bit and the snow began falling from the trees. I got confused, was that a bird or was that snowing falling. I was confused a lot! I truly did love everything about today's wintry weather in the middle of spring! So not to be confused in other aspects, I am doing an actual countdown until I get to live out a dream!

Spring is a long time coming this year.
ReplyDeleteIt is looking like winter conditions may be with us well into the coming week!
DeleteHello, Alexandra
ReplyDeleteGreat photos from your walk, you saw some awesome birds. I would love to see the Bohemian Waxwings.
The Eagles must be doing a great job at keeping the eggs/eaglets warm. Love your Robin Easter basket painting. Happy Easter to you! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and a happy Easter weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
It is a good thing the eaglets still have a few weeks before they hatch, the weather has been cold and snowy.
DeleteHug from Viola.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Thank You!
DeleteA beautiful walk and such a rich set of sightings. That Easter robin is a charming creation. And now I am curious about that dream you are counting down to.
ReplyDeleteThe sightings were so rich and so priceless!
DeleteGreat to see someone still blogging! There's a funny story how I discovered your blog. Carburn Park is one of my favourites. I was just in Inglewood bird sanctuary yesterday. Added you to my blog roll.
ReplyDeleteExciting times these days at both Carburn and Inglewood with all the spring arrivals!
DeleteYour Easter has been blessed with this wonderful outing, Alexandra.
ReplyDeleteI feel that way too about it!
DeleteWhat a delightful outing, Alexandra. The Bohemian Waxwings are such pretty birds. I love your watercolour with the robin in the Easter basket.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the snow will soon give way to more spring like weather, but you do know how to enjoy whatever comes.
With the songs coming from that many Bohemian Waxwings all at once, the forest was filled with music!
DeleteYou captured the crazy streak if winter/spring weather with fantastic pictures!!! Watch out for those geese!!🤪 Norma
