Just out of the blue, a flurry of words came flooding into the forefront of my mind and I could not dismiss them! This happens often and when it does, I usually make a note of the words as most times they become the basis of an idea for a project. This time I made a "wordle chart" of the words! All the words melded together and now I have a story to tell!
This past weekend, I finished knitting my first ever pair of mittens! They look like a pair in colour only, the size and shape of each is unique to itself. As I was knitting each mitten, I was recognizing the mistakes I was making, some I was able to correct, others were a learning lesson, I accepted them and I knitted on through. I am so pleased with how they turned out. I have already worn them while "out & about"! Before this pair was even complete, I knew I wanted to knit another pair.
Before getting busy with picking the colour, type of yarn and a pattern to knit another pair of mittens, I got busy with putting up my Christmas Tree. This is the ornament I took with me to capture a photo of out in nature. While hanging it front and centre on my tree, I thought about what painting I might like to do next.

This is the result from words that came to mind when thinking of what watercolour painting to create! Most of the words in my "wordle chart" can be found or felt in the painting. Ever since seeing the Aurora Borealis in October, I often go back to that night in my mind and many times I have also looked back over all my photographs. It was a night I will never forget!
With my tree up and the lights on, a glow comes over my living room. I am also loving the glow in the mittens I am now knitting. I picked acrylic over wool and a bulkier weight. For this pair, I am knitting with circular needles. After two failed attempts to get the knack of knitting with these needles, I had success on the third try. Just like with the first pair, some mistakes I was able to correct and others I just knitted on through. The needles are bamboo and not slippery so the stitches stay on better.
I am thrilled with how the mitten is knitting up, I like the feel of the acrylic and I love the colours. When admiring all the yarns at the store, it was the colour of this one that grabbed my attention. I checked to see it was the weight, bulk and length I wanted. The price was right too. When I saw the name of the colour, I was sold. The colour of this yarn is called Northern Lights!
