I could sit for hours inside feeling comfy and cozy while looking through the picture window to the beautiful view outside. The stars twinkle, the tree is laden with new fallen snow and the fireplace in the cottage down the way glows from within. At times, I break away from the view….
…..to lay some festive shades on a sheet of watercolour paper! I am enjoying working on the Advent Calendar, yet I am finding the project to be challenging. A sharp eye and a steady hand are required to paint the details in such a tiny space. If you stay tuned, you will see the painting for the third day, which is behind the candy cane stripped door.
If I stay inside though, I would not experience being one with that outside winter beauty. On this morning at The Sanctuary, there was me and one other person. We both frequent this place and chat every time we cross paths. It was colder and frostier this time, a reason to move quicker yet we stopped and chatted longer. I realized why we relate so well, not only are we both birders but he’s a Bluenoser too! I feel grateful that I get to be outside enjoying sights like these.
I will admit, it is nice to be back home after spending a few hours out and about in the crispy cold weather. Back by the picture window now with knitting needles in hand it is time to be crafty, with care and compassion. These slipper booties will bring comfort to others who may need them more than me. With the green and purple skeins of yarn, I will knit four more pairs of the booties.
Seeing the beauty outside, through the picture window, calls my name! This morning it called loud and clear! While I appreciate seeing the sights from inside, being out there makes everything truly come to life on a whole different level. For most of the hike up on Nose Hill, I made first tracks in the new snow. The cotton candy sky gave way to clouds that danced like there was no tomorrow. Yet tomorrow will come and I will head outside once again!

Ahhh, so you stayed tuned! There you have it, the watercolour painting behind the door on Day 3. I wish I could do a do-over of Day 3! That was a lot of detail to place inside the tiny snow globe. It’s the steeple on the church that I reluctantly have to accept as is painted. I am already curious as to what the picture will be for Day 4.
The snowy scenery where you live is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's getting better each day as flurries fall off and on!
DeleteHello Alexandra
ReplyDeleteBeautiful winter landscapes! The sunrise is lovely. I like your advent images. They are all cute!
Take care, have a great day!
Seeing these kinds of landscapes is why I love winter so much! Enjoy your Friday!
DeleteImpossible to stay indoors when so much white beauty beckons!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I have to look the other way to accomplish necessary tasks or else nothing would get done!
DeleteYour winter world is so beautiful! I miss the cold and snow.
ReplyDeleteI also struggled with the steeple on the church. There is a lot of detail in these little paintings. And so much fun!
I am sure I would miss the cold and snow too if I moved to a warmer climate! I am really getting into these advent paintings, I do mine first thing in the morning when I am sharper!
DeleteSuch beautiful photographs ... I am so pleased you spent time outside, took these photographs and shared them with us.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
