The Moon was still glowing high in the sky!

Got my selfie shot out of the way early!
The sun was hitting the tops of the trees behind me.
After descending to the valley bottom,
then ascending a little hill to a ridge,
this was the view I had behind me.

This was the view I had in front of me. The train passed by as I arrived up on the ridge. The Canadian Rocky Mountains to the west are now all covered in new white gold.

The route along the ridge was a welcoming line of autumn aspens.

from the Prairies to the Mountains

The temperature was just below freezing. I wondered was that why this Yellow-Rumped Warbler was all fluffed up. There were a few of this species of Warbler in the flock. I was surprised yet happy to see they had not flown further south yet. Being all fluffed up really showed off its yellow rump.

another Yellow-rumped Warbler

further east along the route offered up a view of the Bow River

See the Moon?

leaves covered some of the trails
After arriving back up to the top, I stopped to enjoy the view of the autumn shades,
the long line of snow-capped mountain peaks and the wispy clouds filling the beautiful blue sky.
After you have been "out & about" you then wonder
do you call that a walk or do you call that a hike?
My answer to that is,
"what you accomplished is in the mind and body of the beholder"!

Definitely a hike to my mind. Your walks always sound a bit too strenuous not to be hikes. We are 20° warmer than you still. No wonder we have minimal leaf colour change. I love to see autumn through your lens. B x
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing what autumn looks like in places around our world! Each so different yet all so beautiful!
DeleteGreat photo of the moon! Those beautiful colours of the landscape create an inviting and warm atmosphere. I also like the photo of you close to the wooden fence. I would like to go running along that route surrounded by yellow leaves.
ReplyDeletePost script: I answered your interesting question on my blog. Thank you for asking me, Alexandra :-)
Greetings,
G.
There were three people running this route while I was there. It is the perfect place to run and get many kilometres in.
DeleteOh my! That fluffy little warbler! I love him. What a gorgeous area for your hike or walk! To me, any walk is a hike, but usually they are rougher than city sidewalks or streets! I think all your "walks" qualify as hikes! Loved the painting and the spattering, too!
ReplyDeleteI prefer dirt trails over concrete but sometimes I have to cover concrete to get to the dirt. All outings with friends are on concrete. Spattering is so much fun!
DeleteBeautiful photos and I love the illustration!!! Gorgeous watercolour!
ReplyDeleteBeauty was everywhere I looked while out there!
DeleteI've never heard of the trails you travel and I've done some hiking but mostly around the Saskatchewan river crossing.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of new parks in and around the city.
DeleteHello Alexandra,
ReplyDeleteI almost missed this post, my reading list did not update again.
I love the beautiful moon, the trees and Autumn colors.
Cute shots of the deer and the warbler.
Another great hike and lovely photos.
Have a great weekend.
Not many warblers left around here now, so was happy to spot that fluffy one.
DeleteI, too, wonder about when a walk becomes a hike! Beautiful, beautiful autumn colours and creatures!
ReplyDeleteThat large moon photo is spectacular! And I love all the shades of gold you captured. ❤️Norma
