I love how November hit!
When I woke this morning and saw what weather we were in for this morning, I thought I can’t do two “out & about” free days in a row! I needed to be out there no matter what, so I went, up to Nose Hill, an easy short drive. I drove through very dense fog and began ascending The Hill in fog. It was like entering into an abyss!
Everything was covered in a layer of hoar frost which is normally white but this morning it had a golden glow. The sky above was clear and blue yet at eye level I could barely see what was in front of me. October is over as is Hallowe'en but the spookiness stuck around and drew me into November's atmospheric eeriness!
The sun was fully up!
I continued to ascend and eventually hiked up out of the fog
to a clearer view where everything was white.
a layer of frost on the steel crocus markers
hoar frost on every blade of grass and twig
it even began to form on the ends of my hair
a very thick layer of frost lay on every leaf
on the top of Nose Hill where it is flat and wide open
silence was golden this morning
the far off sounds were drowned in the fog down below
A couple of hours after exiting the abyss then enjoying the blue, the white, the frost and the fresh air, it was time to hit the trail back down. The fog had not lifted, it continued to shroud the lower laying land. Back into the abyss I go!

The trail to ______!
This was quite the introduction to November and I was so thankful to have accepted the invitation and did not RSVP with a negative response. The atmospheric look gave The Hill a little bit more of a wild feel. I got my fill of what I went in search off!
Wow, your photos are beautiful. Lovely captures of the golden fog and the frost. Take care, have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank You! It was very easy to get beautiful photos, just needed to be there with a point & shoot camera!
DeleteGorgeous photos. Hoarfrost transforms ordinary things into magic!
ReplyDeleteIt was so magical! Mother Nature sure works wonders!
DeleteWe missed the big fog but it was chilly yesterday because it was damp.
ReplyDeleteI remember growing up in Nova Scotia and when it was cold and damp, we would say it chills you to the bone!
DeleteAbsolutely stunning, frosty, foggy, morning beauty. 🤢
ReplyDeleteLots of fog here lately!
DeleteSuch a rare thing in this corner that frost is so beautiful and so coooolllllld by the look of it. Happy November. B x
ReplyDeleteGetting hoar frost like that does not happen very often so I love to embrace it when it when we get it! Happy November to you too!
DeleteGorgeous! Morning glow, frost and cold! I wish I could be there!
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I write a blog post, I wish I could attach a feeling or a fragrance so others could enjoy from their homes what I enjoyed here!
DeleteAlexandra, You got several cool (should we say icy? 😊) images. Whoever planned the city of Calgary did something great by setting aside Nose Hill Park, as it is now completely surrounded by urban development. It’s kind of like the Calgary version of Manhattan’s Central Park. John
ReplyDeleteToo funny that you mention Central Park, I just watched coverage of the New York City Marathon and I thought how neat it was that the finish line is in Central Park. I have never been there.
DeletePS Looking at Calgary on Google Maps I happened to notice Fournier Trail … a little west of Nose Hill Park. It looks like a great place for a walk/hike. I wonder if you’ve done a post on it?
ReplyDeleteI have walked in that area many times and it comes under Bowmont in my posts. A few posts are: Oct 2, 2023 : May 18, 2021 : Sept 28, 2021 photos 9-13 : Sept 30, 2024 photos 9-12. It is absolutely beautiful in that area during winter.
DeleteAn interesting perspective on the park and love the cityscape photo. ❤️ Norma
