Remembrance Day November 11, 2024

On November 8th, I needed to be in the area for a late morning appointment so I incorporated a visit to the Field of Crosses beforehand.  Each year in mid October the site is set up with the opening on November 1st.  The last time I was there was in 2017.  Since that visit I made in November of 2017, I noticed some things remain the same yet others have changed.  The biggest change is how the Field of Crosses has grown over the past six years. The row upon row of crosses extends further north and further east.

In recognition of Remembrance Day, I painted this "field of poppies at sunrise" from a tutorial.

I captured the following photos at the Field of Crosses on my November 8th visit.

Amazing, it is sad to see all the crosses for the fallen soldiers. Your poppy image is pretty.
Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

  5. Alexandra, Another excellent post honoring Remembrance Day and the Field of Crosses. I like your field of poppies at sunrise art. In a previous reply you asked if I paint. The answer is no … however, your blog and art have encouraged me to think about giving it a shot. I found an online course – introduction to drawing. As I’ve said before ... You’re an inspiration. 1. Thank You for the compliment! I hope your thinking about drawing leads to you actually giving it a try. I find it so enjoyable and it's a healthy craft in so many ways. I followed many online tutorials, it was a challenge at first but I stuck with it.
