naturally Easter

Naturally Easter comes with sunshine & sprinkles, colours & clouds, turkey & toasts, bunnies & birds!  That's my kind of Easter typically and this year's version fit that to a T!  Taking into consideration what interests me lately, then naturally this year's Easter season was a tad more geared towards nature in one way or another.  Wishes of Happy Easter while enjoying spring, naturally too best wishes for everything!

With Easter falling at this time of year, crocuses naturally become the festive bouquet. I found them, once again, in abundance while "out & about".  I am calling this my bouquet and for this Easter season, it is my iPad screensaver. 

When I think of Easter, naturally I think of cheerful, vibrant colours!  After learning to paint the Anna's Hummingbird from a tutorial which I shared in my last blog post, I was ready to attempt to create one from my own photographs.  The reference photos are below.  While admiring these birds during my recent trip to Victoria, naturally thoughts that came to the forefront were how flitty they were and so beautifully complicated.  When the sun caught their feathers, they glowed vibrantly for a split second. I wanted to portray that in my watercolour painting so I could see forever.  It took patience to photograph them and even more patience to make this painting of one.  When I stand back and look at the painting, I see the forever translucent essence that more often than not evaded me in Victoria but for split seconds in time.

The bear's new friend is a fox! Naturally I would not want to meet a bear on the trail (yet I have though more than my fare share of times) and I have been fortunate to see a fox a few times. Naturally also, these two would not be friends out in nature but they happily stand side by side in my home. I am not certain I will keep them, I am assessing that at the moment.  The fox was such a pleasure to knit and then to construct.  It seemed to come to life once I completed the head (it was knitted from the legs up to the head) and even before adding the eyes and nose. Because I am enjoying knitting so much, naturally I already have another project on the go!
