After yesterday's and last night's snowfall, I wondered would the skating surface be sketchy. The only thing that was sketchy was the drive there. By the time I arrived the ice had just been swept yet the sign had not been updated. It was a very cold start to the day so extra warm layers were required. After checking conditions, I laced up, gingerly worked my way down to the ice surface then glided into 2025! (Note: I missed Jan 1st, it's a blur!)
As I glided off along The Lagoon, I was happy to see the conditions were great. I got to enjoy the surroundings rather than having my head down checking to see where I was placing my blades. No one else had arrived yet but two others did after a half hour or so.
As I skated along The Canal, I saw the Ice Man filling up his water tank. I stopped and chatted for a few minutes then carried on skating around The Lagoon. He went to work making The Canal a magical surface to glide along.
A little time by the fire topped off my first skating session of 2025!
After wearing the third pair of mittens I knitted, I declare they are
tried and true in cold and snowy conditions!
My wish is the weather will stay favourable offering up lots of opportunities to smoothly glide along in 2025! I hope 2025 is starting smoothly for you! I hope it's a year that brings you good health & happiness, peace & kindness and finds you embracing what brings you joy!
How great to get out and enjoy the winter weather. Your mittens are lovely and I'm glad they keep your hands warm! You're off to a great start on meeting your 2025 goal.
ReplyDeleteWinter will be turning springy in the city this coming week! Feels like a slow go getting going these days!
DeleteCute hat peeking through your hood! What a great way to kick off 2025 & working towards your new goal…❤️Norma
ReplyDeleteIt's my favourite Sauce hat for colder conditions! It has fleece inside, the others are lighter weight!
Delete2025 kms skating is a challenge. It is easy to do that on a bike but they are two very different cases.
ReplyDeleteThe 2025 kms covered will come from all the activities in the chart, skating will be a very small percentage.
DeleteOh to have that wonderful iced canal to yourself. What a magical moment. I think it’s great you are hooked on numbers. Such a motivator. Hopefully the clear days will continue. After a perfect day yesterday we have 100% rain forecast for later. Time to get up and out early today I think. Love those mittens. B x
ReplyDeleteWe need to take advantage of those perfect days! About the mittens, I knit them with bamboo knitting needles and splinters began to form and stick in the yarn and in my finger. Another kind that I tried, the tip broke off. I guess metal is the only way to go! I have so much to learn, time to investigate knitting needle options!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your skating video. It is nice you had the place to yourself. You are off to a great start for the New Year. I wish you many more adventures, hikes, good health, happiness and peace for 2025. Have a great weekend.
Weekday mornings are the best for skating! It becomes a zoo there by late morning on weekends. I hope your weekend is going well!
DeleteOff to a great start, Alexandra. A magical morning.
ReplyDeleteWinter always feels more magical to me!
