today’s recreation of my watercolour painting

Down Upper Tramline, up Moraine, across Fairview is my favourite loop to Cross Country Ski and that’s the plan for today. The groomed trail starts at the far end of the Lake Louise Parking Lot. From the start I could see the snow pack was low yet the level was sufficient for grooming and skiing. No one else was parked here and it appeared no one else had skied this track yet this morning. It was -12C with a feel of -19C to start. I bundled up, had a hot beverage in my pack along with my bear spray because you never know!
view while gradually gliding down Upper Tramline
view ahead while slowly skiing up Moraine
somewhere further along would be my turn off for Fairview
seeing the turnoff for Fairview through the trees
view while sitting on the snowfa
perfect spot for a few sips
(It surprises me how clearly my camera picks up every sound.)
looking back at the snowfa as I glided away
view in front of me as I continued along Fairview
What do those tracks belong to?
As I neared the end of the meadows and headed back into the trees, I took one last look back.
My hat blends in with the tall snow covered trees!
The sun sets on another day in this little piece of paradise called Lake Louise!
And yet another great day …so glad you are getting out and partaking in your favourite wintertime activities. ❤️

Had to head west to the mountains to find enough snow where I could partake in those winter activities!
DeleteI'm quite time poor at present but have just caught up on these sensational, magical, wondrous posts of this special time at Lake Louise. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW and that I am filled with envy. Go you!
ReplyDeleteI only hope you are time poor due to having lots of fun! Time spent at Lake Louise is always special!
DeleteSadly, no. Frank had a laminectomy on the 10 December. It was a success but it has set off other issues. Their cause is a mystery. Christmas and New Year were in hospital. He could be headed back in today.
DeleteOh Gosh, I was happy to hear it had originally been a success! I sure hope they can figure out what the heck is going on and get Frank back on the road to recovery! Best wishes!
DeleteWhat a great ski trail. I was never very good going down steep slopes.
ReplyDeleteI did this route clockwise to avoid going down the steep hills, I am more comfortable going up them. The recommended direction by Parks Canada is counterclockwise!!!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteYour landscape photos are just gorgeous. Looks like you had a fantastic time! Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
It was such an enjoyable get-away! It is so easy to capture gorgeous photos in the area! Have a lovely week!
DeleteAlexandra, Another excellent post. The pictures are great and I can't quit smiling about the hot drink video. Very cool! Now, I just read something that reminded me to click over to Still Making Waves ... "January’s full Wolf Moon reaches peak illumination on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 5:27 P.M. EST." Wishing you clear skies! John
ReplyDeletePS Thank you so much for all the kind words in your comment on my new post!
Oh WOW, I just looked outside and saw the full Wolf Moon with many stars close by! I will look again this evening! I laughed when I downloaded the video and heard what was recorded!
DeleteSimply amazing photographs, what a great get-away.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
